We arrived at Silverstone early on friday 21st October with the aim of testing the TVR Griffith, giving it a general shake down before bedding in 2 sets of tyres and a race set of front discs and brake pads prior to racing in the Pall Mall Cup; a 3 hour endurance race starting at 3pm on Saturday 22nd October 2022.
After a wet test day the skies cleared and we were set for a dry race.
This was Retro Engineering’s first foray into endurance racing and what a result, 3rd overall against some very experienced drivers and teams.
The team consisted of Harry Barton owner of the TVR Griffith and Ollie Reuben, whose father Nigel originally built the car. Harry started the race with an 80 minute stint followed by a 5 minute compulsory pit stop, re-fuel and driver change. Ollie completed the middle section racing for 70 minutes followed by another 5 minute pit stop final re-fuel and driver change, with Harry bringing it home after the final 20 minutes.
Thank you to our team for a great effort all year and a superb result at the end of the season. Thank you to Carl and Harry Barton for trusting us with their cars throughout the year and some brilliant driving by Harry. Thank you to Nigel Reuben for his advice and support during the race and to Ollie Reuben for a fantastic drive on Saturday. Finally thanks to Peter Baker from Retro Speed for all his wonderful photographs and allowing us to use them for our posts.
Looking forward to another busy season in 2023 watch this space!
